Restore Your Van’s Starting and Running Reliability
From the Service Bay: The Intermittent No-Start Nightmare
A local contractor brought in his ’14 Express 1500, completely frustrated. He said, “Some mornings it fires right up, other times it just cranks and cranks.” He had already replaced the fuel pump, thinking that was the obvious fix, but the problem persisted. We hooked up the scanner and saw no fuel pressure command from the FPCM. These modules, mounted on the frame rail, are exposed to years of moisture, salt, and vibration, which corrodes the internal circuits. We installed a new, pre-programmed FPCM, and the van started reliably every single time. It’s a fix I’ve performed hundreds of times on these GM platforms.
