Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) Explained

FPCM Buying Guide – Fuel Pump Control Module

The Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM), also called FSCM, controls fuel pressure in modern GM vehicles. When it fails, your engine may not start or run poorly due to incorrect fuel delivery.

Signs Your FPCM Needs Replacement

  • Engine cranks but won’t start
  • Long crank times before starting
  • Engine stalling, especially when hot
  • P0230 – Fuel Pump Primary Circuit
  • P0231 – Fuel Pump Secondary Circuit Low
  • Reduced fuel economy

Common Vehicles with FPCM

Fuel Pump Control Modules are found on many 2007+ GM vehicles including:

  • Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban
  • GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Chevrolet Avalanche
  • Many other GM trucks and SUVs

Location

The FPCM is typically mounted on the frame rail near the fuel tank. It receives signals from the ECM to control fuel pump speed and pressure.
