Expert Pro Tip: Check the Basics First
Before you condemn your TCCM, take 10 minutes to check two other common culprits. First, inspect the ground wire connection for the module (often located on the frame rail below the driver’s door). A corroded ground can mimic a failed module. Second, check the 4WD selector switch on the dash. I’ve seen cases where a spilled coffee shorted out the switch, sending erratic signals. If both of those check out and you’re still getting TCCM-related codes, you can be confident the module itself is the problem.
