- Safety First: Always disconnect the negative terminal from your vehicle’s battery before starting any electronic work.
- Access the Module: You will need to remove the upper radiator support cover and potentially unbolt the fan shroud to gain access to the ECM located behind it.
- Disconnect and Remove: Carefully unplug the electrical connectors from the old ECM. Press the release tabs firmly and pull straight out. Then, unbolt the module from its mounting bracket.
- Install the New ECM: Mount your new, pre-programmed ECM onto the bracket and securely reconnect all electrical connectors. Ensure they click into place.
- Reconnect Battery: Reattach the negative battery terminal.
- Perform Security Relearn: You MUST perform a security relearn procedure (often called a ‘key-on’ procedure) to sync the new ECM with your vehicle’s anti-theft system. This typically involves turning the key to the ‘ON’ position for 10-15 minutes, then off, and repeating two more times. Your vehicle will not start until this is completed.
