Simple Installation: Get Back on the Road Fast
You don’t need to be a master technician to install this part. Follow these simple steps. After installation, you will need to perform a security relearn procedure, which takes about 10-15 minutes and requires only your key.
- Safety First: Disconnect the negative terminal from your vehicle’s battery.
- Locate the PCM: On most of these trucks and SUVs, it’s found in the engine bay on the driver’s side, under or next to the battery tray.
- Disconnect Connectors: Carefully unclip and remove the wiring harness connectors from the old PCM. Inspect the terminals for any corrosion or damage and clean them if necessary.
- Remove Old Module: Unbolt the old PCM from its mounting bracket and remove it from the vehicle.
- Install New Module: Mount your new, programmed PCM and securely reconnect the wiring harnesses. Ensure they click into place.
- Reconnect Battery: Reattach the negative battery terminal.
- Perform Security Relearn: Turn the key to the ‘ON’ position for 10 minutes, then ‘OFF’ for 10 seconds. Repeat this cycle three times. On the fourth cycle, the vehicle should start, and the security light will be off.
