Is Your GM Truck or SUV Running Rough?

If you’re dealing with a persistent check engine light, erratic engine behavior, stalling, or a complete no-start condition on your 2017 Cadillac Escalade or other compatible GM vehicle, a failing Engine Control Module (ECM) is a very likely culprit. As the brain of your vehicle’s engine management system, when the ECM falters, it can cause a cascade of frustrating and difficult-to-diagnose problems. Don’t keep throwing parts at the problem; get to the source with a reliable, correctly programmed replacement.

“A customer’s 2017 Silverado came in last week with a persistent P0606 code (ECM Processor Fault). They had already replaced two oxygen sensors and the mass air flow sensor trying to chase down what they thought was a fuel trim issue. The real culprit was an internal failure in the original ECM. Once we installed a correctly programmed unit like this one, all the phantom codes vanished and the truck ran perfectly.”

The Right Part, Programmed and Ready for Installation

This isn’t just a generic, off-the-shelf computer. We take the guesswork and hassle out of the replacement process. When you purchase this module, we will program it specifically to your vehicle’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) using official GM software. This ensures it has the latest calibrations and communicates perfectly with the other modules in your vehicle, just as the factory intended.

  • ✔ VIN-Specific Programming: We flash the module with the newest GM software updates for your exact vehicle before it ships.
  • ✔ Restores Performance: Solves common failure symptoms like check engine lights, poor fuel economy, and drivability issues.
  • ✔ Direct-Fit Solution: Designed to replace a range of original equipment part numbers, ensuring broad compatibility.
  • ✔ Cost-Effective Repair: Avoids the high costs and scheduling delays associated with a dealership service department.

Important Installation Information: Please Read

While we handle the complex module programming, some on-vehicle procedures are the responsibility of the installer. Modern GM vehicles have sophisticated anti-theft systems. After installing this ECM, if the vehicle does not start, a Vehicle Theft Deterrent System (VTDS) relearn must be performed. This procedure pairs the new ECM to your vehicle’s security system.

Additionally, other vehicle-specific setups may be required for optimal performance, such as a Crankshaft Variation Relearn or injector flow rate programming. These are standard procedures for any ECM replacement.

Required Tools: These final setup procedures require a professional scan tool with GM-specific software, such as the official GM Tis2web or Techline Connect system.

Simplified Installation Steps

  1. Safety First: Disconnect the negative terminal from your vehicle’s battery.
  2. Locate the ECM: On most listed trucks and SUVs, the ECM is found in the engine compartment on the driver’s side. On other models like the Corvette or XTS, its location may vary (e.g., under the cowl).
  3. Disconnect and Remove: Carefully unplug the electrical connectors. Use a small screwdriver to release the locking tabs if necessary. Then, unbolt the old module from its bracket.
  4. Install the New Module: Bolt the new ECM into place and securely reconnect all electrical connectors. Ensure they click into place.
  5. Reconnect Battery: Reattach the negative battery terminal.
  6. Perform Final Procedures: Attempt to start the vehicle. If it does not start, perform the VTDS relearn. Proceed with any other necessary relearns (crankshaft variation, etc.) as indicated by your professional scan tool.
