Is Your Cadillac ELR Running Rough or Showing a Check Engine Light?

If you’re dealing with frustrating issues like a persistent check engine light, erratic engine behavior, stalling, or a no-start condition in your 2014-2016 Cadillac ELR, a failing Engine Control Module (ECM) is a very likely culprit. As the central computer for your vehicle’s advanced powertrain, the ECM is responsible for managing everything from fuel injection and ignition timing to emissions controls. When it fails, the symptoms can be confusing and concerning, leaving your sophisticated vehicle sidelined.

The Direct-Fit, Programmed Solution

This is a genuine OEM Engine Control Module, a direct replacement for part number 22819494 and several other GM part numbers. The biggest advantage we offer is our in-house programming service. Before we ship this module to you, our technicians will flash it with the latest official GM software updates, specifically coded to your vehicle’s unique 17-digit VIN. This means it arrives at your door ready for a straightforward installation, saving you the time, cost, and hassle of a trip to the dealership for programming.

Real-World Diagnostics: A Common Failure Scenario

“Just last week, a 2015 Chevy Cruze with the 1.4L engineโ€”which uses this same family of ECMsโ€”was towed to my shop. The owner complained of a random misfire (P0300 code) and intermittent stalling that no one could figure out. After verifying the coils and plugs were good, we scoped the injector driver circuits directly at the ECM connector. We found the signal for cylinder 3 was dropping out intermittently. This internal ECM fault is something I’ve seen dozens of times on these platforms. A new, correctly programmed ECM resolved all the issues instantly.”

Key Benefits of This VIN-Programmed ECM:

  • โœ” Plug-and-Play Ready: Arrives programmed to your specific VIN. No additional flashing required.
  • โœ” Solves Common Problems: A direct fix for fault codes, poor fuel economy, rough idle, and other drivability issues caused by a faulty computer.
  • โœ” Latest GM Software: We load the most current factory calibrations to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • โœ” Guaranteed Compatibility: This module is a direct replacement for part numbers 12668866, 12668994, 12643636, 12663405, 12670335, 22819494, and 12692200.
  • โœ” Broad Application: While perfect for the ELR, this ECM is also the correct component for a wide range of GM vehicles, including the Volt, Cruze, Sonic, Trax, and various trucks and vans.

Easy Installation Guide for your 2014-2016 ELR Engine Control Module

Replacing the ECM on your ELR is a manageable DIY job. The module is located in the left-hand (driver’s side) rear of the engine compartment.

  1. Safety First: Disconnect the negative terminal from your 12V battery and secure it away from the post to prevent accidental reconnection.
  2. Locate the ECM: Open the hood and find the ECM in the rear driver’s side corner of the engine bay.
  3. Disconnect Connectors: Carefully release the locking tabs on the electrical harness connectors and pull them straight out from the module. Do not force them.
  4. Remove the Old Module: Unbolt the mounting hardware holding the original ECM in place and remove it from the vehicle.
  5. Install the New Module: Mount your new, pre-programmed ECM in the same location and secure it with the original hardware.
  6. Reconnect Everything: Firmly plug the electrical connectors back into the new ECM until they click into place. Reconnect your negative battery terminal.
  7. Final Step: Start the vehicle. It may take a moment to run smoothly as it completes its initial self-checks. Your check engine light should be off and the vehicle should run properly.

IMPORTANT: After placing your order, please send us a message with your vehicle’s 17-digit VIN. We cannot ship your part until we have this information to complete the essential programming process.
