Is Your Work Van Running Rough? Restore Its Reliability.

If your 2010-2014 Chevy Express or GMC Savana 1500 is the backbone of your business, you can’t afford downtime. A faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) can bring everything to a halt, causing symptoms that are often frustrating and difficult to pinpoint. From a persistent check engine light that won’t go away to stalling, hesitation, or even a complete no-start condition, a bad ECM can mimic a dozen other problems. I’ve seen it countless times in my shop: a van owner comes in after replacing sensors and spark plugs, only to find the core issue was the vehicle’s computer all along.

This isn’t just a replacement part; it’s a direct solution. We take this genuine GM ECM, compatible with service number 12653246, and pre-program it specifically for your vehicle using the VIN you provide. This means it arrives with the most current GM software updates already installed, ensuring optimal performance and communication with all other vehicle modules right out of the box.

Why Choose Our Pre-Programmed 2010-2014 Express 1500 ECM?

Getting your van back in service shouldn’t be complicated. This module is designed to eliminate the typical hassles associated with ECM replacement. You get a reliable part that’s ready for installation, saving you from towing fees and expensive programming appointments at a dealership.

  • ✔ VIN-Specific Programming: We flash the module with the latest GM software matched precisely to your van’s VIN.
  • ✔ No Additional Programming Needed: This module is ready to install upon arrival. A security relearn procedure may be required, but no expensive dealer tools are necessary.
  • ✔ Solves Common 4.3L V6 Issues: Directly addresses problems like false sensor codes, erratic idling, poor fuel economy, and intermittent stalling.
  • ✔ Guaranteed Compatibility: A direct-fit replacement for service numbers 12635043, 12639471, and 12653246.

From the Shop Floor: A Real-World Diagnostic Story

“A customer’s 2012 Express 1500 came in last week with these exact symptoms: a check engine light for a throttle position sensor (TPS) code and an intermittent ‘Reduced Engine Power’ message. He had already replaced the entire throttle body assembly twice, but the problem kept returning within a day. After confirming the wiring from the TPS to the ECM was intact, we knew the issue was internal to the module. The driver circuit inside the original ECM that interprets the TPS signal had failed. We installed one of our pre-programmed ECMs, performed the 10-minute security relearn, and the van has been running perfectly ever since. It’s a classic case where the symptom points one way, but the root cause is the computer itself.”

Simple Installation Guide for Your Express or Savana Van

Replacing the 2010-2014 Express 1500 ECM is a straightforward job you can do with basic hand tools. On these vans, the module is located in the left-hand (driver’s side) rear of the engine compartment.

  1. Safety First: Disconnect the negative terminal from your vehicle’s battery and secure it away from the post.
  2. Locate the ECM: Find the module on the driver’s side of the engine bay, towards the firewall. It will have several large electrical connectors attached.
  3. Disconnect the Connectors: Carefully release the locking tabs on each wiring harness connector and pull them straight out from the ECM. Never force them. Inspect the pins for any corrosion or damage.
  4. Remove the Old Module: Unbolt the mounting hardware that secures the ECM to its bracket. Keep the hardware, as you will reuse it.
  5. Install the New Module: Mount your new, pre-programmed ECM onto the bracket and secure it with the original hardware.
  6. Reconnect Everything: Firmly plug the wiring harness connectors back into the new ECM until they click into place. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  7. Perform Security Relearn: You will likely need to perform a simple key-on/key-off security relearn procedure. This typically involves turning the key to the ‘ON’ position for 10 minutes, then ‘OFF’ for 10 seconds, and repeating this cycle three times. Your vehicle’s manual will have the exact steps.
