Is Your Work Van Letting You Down?

If your 2010-2014 Chevy Express or GMC Savana 1500 is experiencing baffling issues like stalling for no reason, a persistent Check Engine Light, erratic shifting, or a complete no-start condition, the problem often points directly to a failing Engine Control Module (ECM). As the brain of your vehicle’s 4.3L engine, a faulty ECM can turn a reliable workhorse into a major headache, costing you time and money. Don’t let intermittent electrical gremlins keep your van off the road.

The Direct, No-Hassle Solution

This is a direct-fit replacement Engine Control Module for your GM van or truck. The best part? We handle the complex part for you. Before this module ever leaves our facility, we will program it with the latest official GM software updates, specifically matched to your van’s unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). This means no expensive trips to the dealership for programming and no special tools required. It’s designed to be a true plug-and-play solution to get you back to work fast.

Expert Pro Tip from a 20-Year Tech

“Before you swap out the ECM on these Express or Savana vans, do yourself a favor and check the main ground points. I’ve seen dozens of these in my bay where the true culprit was a corroded ground strap on the frame rail near the engine or a loose connection at the battery terminal. A simple wire brush and a wrench can sometimes solve issues that perfectly mimic ECM failure. A five-minute check can save you a lot of diagnostic time.”

Common Symptoms of a Failing 2010-2014 Express 1500 ECM:

  • ✔ Unexplained stalling or engine cutting out while driving
  • ✔ Complete no-start condition where the engine cranks but won’t fire
  • ✔ Check Engine Light is on with communication-related fault codes (U-codes)
  • ✔ Poor fuel economy and reduced engine power
  • ✔ Harsh or erratic automatic transmission shifting
  • ✔ Apparent failure of multiple sensors at once

Simple Installation Guide: Get Your Van Running in Under an Hour

Installing your new ECM is straightforward. You’ll find it located in the LH (driver’s side) rear of the engine compartment on Express and Savana vans.

  1. Safety First: Disconnect the negative terminal from your vehicle’s battery.
  2. Locate the ECM: Find the module on the driver’s side of the engine bay, towards the firewall.
  3. Disconnect Connectors: Carefully unclip the wiring harness connectors from the old module. Inspect the pins for any corrosion or damage before proceeding.
  4. Remove Old Module: Unbolt the old ECM from its mounting bracket.
  5. Install New Module: Secure your new, pre-programmed ECM onto the bracket.
  6. Reconnect Everything: Firmly plug the wiring harnesses into the new module until they click. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  7. Final Step: Turn the key to the ‘ON’ position for 10 seconds, then ‘OFF’ for 10 seconds. Repeat this 3 times before starting the engine. This helps the vehicle’s systems recognize the new module.
