Restore Control and Eliminate Electrical Headaches in Your Impala

Are you chasing electrical gremlins in your 2006-2013 Chevrolet Impala? Intermittent power windows, flickering dash lights, a security system that won’t cooperate, or even a no-start condition can all point to one culprit: a failing Body Control Module (BCM). As the central hub for your vehicle’s body electronics, a faulty BCM can turn your reliable sedan into a source of constant frustration. Dealerships will quote you a high price for a new module plus mandatory programming fees. We offer a smarter, more affordable solution.

This is a direct-replacement BCM that comes with our professional Cloning Service. Instead of programming a blank module from scratch, which can be complex and requires expensive tools, we transfer the exact data from your original BCM to this replacement unit. This means all your vehicle’s specific settings, key information, and options are perfectly preserved. The result? A true plug-and-play module that restores full functionality without any need for a trip to the dealer. Just send us your original module, and we’ll handle the rest, getting you back on the road quickly and confidently.

From the Diagnostic Bay: The Case of the Haunted Impala

I remember a 2011 Impala that came into the shop with a list of bizarre symptoms. The owner said his power door locks had a mind of their own, the radio would sometimes not turn on, and the “Service Theft System” light was constantly illuminated, occasionally preventing the car from starting. He was convinced the car was possessed. After checking the basics—battery, alternator, and grounds—we connected our scan tool. The communication network was flooded with U-codes, specifically U0140 (Lost Communication With Body Control Module). This told me the BCM wasn’t talking correctly to the other modules. Instead of a costly new unit and programming, we performed a BCM clone. Within an hour of receiving the cloned module back, the customer had it installed himself. Every single electrical issue was gone. It’s a classic example of how a failing BCM can mimic multiple other problems, and how our cloning service provides a precise, effective fix.

Common Signs of a Failing BCM

If you’re experiencing any of the following, a faulty BCM is the likely cause. In my 20+ years of experience, these are the most frequent indicators I see in the shop:

  • ✔ Erratic or non-functional power windows, door locks, or interior lights.
  • ✔ The security or anti-theft light stays on, and the engine may not crank.
  • ✔ Horn sounds unexpectedly or doesn’t work at all.
  • ✔ Key fob stops working reliably.
  • ✔ Communication-related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are present, such as U0140, U0155, B1001, or B1327.
  • ✔ Wipers operate randomly or won’t turn off.

A Straightforward Guide to Installation

This cloning service makes the physical swap simple for any DIYer. For a 2006-2013 Impala, the BCM is located on the left (driver’s) side of the dashboard.

  1. Safety First: Disconnect the negative terminal from your vehicle’s battery and wait 10 minutes for the systems to fully discharge.
  2. Locate the BCM: On the Impala, you’ll typically find the BCM by removing the lower dash panel beneath the steering wheel. It’s a black plastic box with several large electrical connectors.
  3. Disconnect and Remove: Carefully press the release tabs on each electrical connector and pull them straight out. Unbolt or unclip the module from its mounting bracket and remove it from the vehicle.
  4. Install the Replacement: Mount your new, cloned BCM in the same location and securely reconnect all electrical connectors. You should hear a click as they lock into place.
  5. Reconnect and Test: Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn the key to the ‘On’ position and test all functions—windows, locks, lights, radio, etc.—to confirm the repair.
  6. Perform Relearns (If Needed): In some cases, you may need to perform a post-installation procedure like an Airbag System Sync or Brake Pedal Position Relearn. See our notes below for details.
